Dynamo Spotlight – Daniel Sweigart

At Dynamo Freight, our team is made up of talented individuals who come from a variety of backgrounds from around the country. We sat down with Daniel Sweigart, one of our Sales Managers, to learn more about how his background led to beginning his career at Dynamo.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

West Virginia University. I majored in Marketing/Sales and Minored in Leadership Studies. GO MOUNTAINEERS!

How did you first hear about Dynamo?

I heard about Dynamo Freight through some of my friends/founders. They kept talking about the possibility of starting our own company, and the possibility soon became a reality. Who would pass that up?

How did you become interested in going into the logistics industry?

I became interested in the logistics industry by accepting my first job out of college as a logistics account executive. I loved the idea that you get paid based on performance and have an uncapped commission opportunity. This really excited me and gave me goals and expectations that I created for myself. The fact that you get paid for how hard you work is something that always stuck out to me. When you can make uncapped earnings, it took my interest to a whole new level. I didn’t want to be working at the same job for 10 years on a salary and not have the opportunity to get paid a lot more if I performed at a high level. My interest grew knowing that the sky would be the limit, and all the pressure was self-driven/motivation.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of the job is how every day is different and the same. You need to be in the industry to understand that statement 😊 It is great to make an impact on different companies and individual lives by having a positive impact on their company. You experience the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows, but it always manages to come to an even keel.

What keeps you at Dynamo?

Opportunity! The opportunity that we have here at Dynamo is limitless! We are growing extremely fast and have amazing people in our company to continue to strive to reach our goals and objectives we have set. It is great to have the ability to adjust on the fly for the betterment of the company. We all have been in the industry for many years, but being able to create your own culture, your own company, it really hits home because you want to inspire to be great and do great things every day for not only the customers that we work with, but our own employees as well. I can’t wait to see where we are in another six months. This year has flown by, and there is a positive future here for all our current and our future employees that have not yet started. #DominateWithDynamo!

If you could go back in time and tell yourself one thing about your job search, what would it be?

Find something that interests you. Take chances and be open for different opportunities! The more open you are, the better opportunities will come.

For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?

Be a sponge! Listen and soak in everything from everyone that is training/working with you. Every person in our industry has their own style but strives to get the same results. Be confident and charismatic! Confidence sells! It is tough having to cold call people all day to get new customers but being confident and charismatic goes a long way. There is no better feeling then when you are speaking with someone on the phone and can feel the smile on their face through the phone. Be yourself! People ultimately work with you because they like you. There is no reason to try and be someone or something you are not. Be yourself and know that everything happens for a reason. Sales is difficult, it’s not easy, but it’s very rewarding when your hard work and determination starts to pay off. Trust the process and believe in yourself!
