Employee Spotlight – Meet Shane!

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I attended Slippery Rock University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business. I originally started at SRU as a Musical Theater major, a passion I’ve pursued since I was six years old. However, midway through my time at SRU, I decided to switch to Business Marketing, seeking a change in career direction.

How did you first hear about Dynamo?

At SRU, I was a member of the fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. During my time there, a few employees from Dynamo Freight visited to discuss logistics and their work. It was then that I realized logistics might be something I’d enjoy—and I was right.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I love building relationships with people, whether they are drivers or dispatchers. Being a big people person, I find it exciting to talk to new people every day.

What keeps you at Dynamo?

For me, it’s all about my coworkers and my amazing supervisor, Wes! Everyone in the office is incredibly supportive and helpful. When I first started, I didn’t know what to expect, but the support from my colleagues and managers is what truly keeps me at Dynamo.

How did you become interested in going into the logistics industry?

Honestly, logistics was never something I thought I would be doing. As graduation got closer, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my career. However, I’ve loved every minute at Dynamo Freight and discovered a real passion for logistics!

If you could go back in time and tell yourself one thing about your job search, what would it be?

Start your job search well before a few months from graduation. During the last few months of my senior year, people constantly asked about my plans, and my usual response was, “I don’t know,” which was pretty stressful.

For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?

As you start your career in sales and logistics, prioritize building strong relationships with clients and suppliers. Effective communication and organization are crucial. Stay flexible and proactive, and make sure to understand your customers’ needs thoroughly. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; that’s honestly the most important piece of advice!

What experiences led you to start your career in logistics?

Working in customer service has definitely helped me – For the past three to four years, I’ve worked as a server in a restaurant, where constantly meeting new people at my tables honed my skills in talking to new people on the phone and building relationships.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

From the ages of 10-22 I sang the anthem many times a year for multiple events in the Pittsburgh Area including the Pirates, and Penguins.

How would you describe the company culture at Dynamo Freight?

Electric, Supportive, Fast Paced, and Inviting

What is the most memorable change that has happened at Dynamo Freight in your time with the company?

Getting to help revamp the trailer management program with our CEO Bill! That is something that wasn’t in my job description but it’s been really exciting helping revamp something we hope to really start utilizing in the future!
