At Dynamo Freight, our team is made up of talented individuals who come from a variety of backgrounds from around the country. We sat down with Daniel Wheeler, an Operations Manager, to learn more about how his background led to beginning their career at Dynamo.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I graduated from Shippensburg University in 2016 (Gooooo Raiders!). I was a double major in management and marketing while being on the football team.
How did you become interested in going into the logistics industry?
When I was coming out of college, I knew it was a field that was always going to continue to grow and was different every single day. I did my research and found out that this was an industry that I’d enjoy. I loved having the opportunity to get into a sales position in a field like that.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part is building lasting and meaningful relationships with the carriers and the fact that two days are never the same!
What keeps you at Dynamo?
The people and workplace here are incredible. On top of that, I just love what I do.
If you could go back in time and tell yourself one thing about your job search, what would it be?
I was a little confused about what I wanted to get into at first, but looking back, I wouldn’t look into anything besides logistics and sales.
For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?
It’s going to take a lot of hard work and a lot of hours, but in the end it’s definitely worth it if you put in time and effort. There’s going to be mistakes and issues that happen, but how you respond to those mistakes and issues is what matters. You’re going to hear “no” a lot, but don’t let it discourage you from your long term goals.
